Keeps my birdbath liquid in the coldest weather, and is less obtrusive that other models. The birds love it.
This is a good, simple product that works. It has worked in temperatures down to 9 degrees fahrenheit so far.I had a little scare when the house outlet switched itself off after a power surge, but that was a loss of power from the house, and no reflection on the unit. One suggestion: add a small LED to indicate that the unit is receiving power. That small suggestion aside, the unit has performed faithfully.
This keeps the ice off my bird bath. If the outside temp approaches zero, some ice forms but there is still some open water which the birds can access.
This item works as advertised. The Ice Eliminator has worked just fine in this zone, with these temperature fluctuations. The only minor complaint is that the paint started to chip a little bit in one spot. It reliably switches itself on if the temperature drops below a certain point (35 degrees F, I believe). I recommend being vigiliant about trying to keep enough water in your birdbath to cover the product. Keeps the birdbath water ice free and at a good temp - the water is not too warm and not too cold. I've been using it for about 2 months. The birds do definitely take advantage of the ice-free water and do stop to drink.
I live in Northern Virginia. The temps here go up and down - It can be 15 degrees for a high one day and 35 the next and 50 the next, and then back down to 20 again. I think that area was exposed to air after the birdbath water evaporated a bit. I definitely consider this to have been a good purchase.
Very Impressed with the whole transaction and the working of this heaterHighly Reccomend
